Anybody who has to work with moving-target proprietary APIs has my sympathy, but #Blackboard says a fix for their #YouTube widget won't be ready till next year! What takes that long? #uni

Good buried lede here. Given the tendency of Coffs employers to combine what they are legally allowed with whatever they think they can get away with, I'm sure it would be surprising news to many Coffs employees that employers are not currently permitted to force the taking of annual leave over Christmas/New Year.

Okay, sod that solution. Got 90% through a long blog post when it seems my thumb got too near the track pad, and managed to delete the whole thing in a single stroke. How is that even possible? Hate laptops.

Ah, it's not the CPU fan; it's the power supply. Which would have been good news 10 years ago; less now that power supplies are as good as hardwired to the motherboard. (i.e. I'd have to pull every component out of the case to completely disconnect it.)

I lie. I had been thumping my PC case with my fist, which until recently silenced it for a while. Now it just makes it reboot, which can't be a good sign.
