BBC bias exposed again in treatment of Israel’s mass murder during war crime raid

Published by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 09/06/2024 - 10:56pm in

Not-so-subtle difference in treatment of Israeli captives vs Palestinian victims of Israel’s slaughter during raid involving new war crime

The BBC’s gross bias in its treatment of Israel’s genocide in Gaza was exposed again in its headlines of Israel’s slaughter of well over two hundred Palestinians – as usual, mostly women and children – in its assault on the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The raid freed four captives – who emerged looking well fed and cared for, in stark contrast to the starved and beaten mass hostages held by Israel – but killed at least two hundred and ten Palestinians, with dead children and body parts spread across the area. It also killed several other Israeli captives. But the BBC’s headline blared, in large text, the news of the four freed while relegating the hundreds of victims to a small subtext, as Greg Herriett’s tweet pointed out:

This behaviour mirrored the appalling speeches by US president Joe Biden and his Secretary of State Antony Blinken, both of whom praised the raid but did not mention the murdered Palestinians.

Israel’s raid used fake ‘aid trucks’ to disguise troops’ entry into the area, which – as UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese has pointed out – is a war crime. ‘Perfidy’, banned under the Geneva Conventions, involves passing off soldiers or military equipment as protected peaceful personnel or objects, or as members of the ‘enemy’ they are fighting, is outlawed. The assault was also given practical support by US forces, along with alleged American ‘boots on the ground’.

Yet another Israeli war crime – and yet another of the many ignored by the UK ‘mainstream’ media while they minimise the lives, deaths and suffering of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Israel has dropped over 75,000 TONS of bombs on tiny Gaza since 7 October

Published by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 06/06/2024 - 8:40am in

More than the total dropped on Dresden, Hamburg and London combined during the whole of WWII

A rescue worker carries body parts after an Israeli bombing of Gaza

A permanent representative to the United Nations has published a shocking statistic about the amount of explosive dropped on tiny Gaza by Israel since 7 October last year.

Mohamad Safa, who represents PVA (Patriotic Vision), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) accredited by the United Nations, has revealed that Israel more than 75,000 tons of explosive during the first two hundred days of its genocidal assault on Gaza – more than the total dropped on three of the most-bombed cities during the Second World War: London, Dresden and Hamburg. The news has also been reported by Al Jazeera, but largely ignored by the UK ‘mainstream’ media.

And the figure was current after two hundred days of the mass murder – today (5 June 2024) is day 242. As many as 100,000 people – and at least well over 40,000 – have been murdered in Gaza during the genocide so far, with twice as many maimed. The vast majority has been women and children.

The war crimes of Israel and every government and company that abets it are abhorrent.

US, Israel rant as Ireland, Spain, Norway recognise Palestinian statehood

Netanyahu and Biden governments in meltdown again as three countries bypass US veto and declare Palestine a state

Norwegian, Irish and Spanish governments declared Palestine’s statehood

The US and Israeli governments have reacted with fury to announcements by three European governments, at the same time, that they are recognising Palestinian statehood. Ireland, Norway and Spain have all now formally declared Palestine to be a state.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu – probably soon to be declared by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to be wanted for war crimes – raged that the three nations were giving ‘Khamas’ a ‘reward for terrorism’. A Biden government spokesman claimed that the US condemned the recognition because it had been granted ‘unilaterally’ rather than through negotiation – ironic and deeply hypocritical considering that the US vetoed a recent application by Palestine to the UN Security Council motion for full membership of the UN. Several leading pro-Israel politicians called for the ICC to be ‘punished’, with a couple admitting that if Israel is held to account for its war crimes, ‘you know they’ll come for us next’.

Well done Ireland, Norway, Spain and, especially, the people of Palestine. Shamefully, there is no prospect of the UK following suit with either the Tories or what now passes for the Labour party in power after the newly-declared general election.

Israeli army airdrops photos of children with warning to run to IDF in psych warfare

Published by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 20/05/2024 - 8:17am in

Vile psychological warfare as flailing occupiers try to turn Palestinians against each other

The Israeli military has begun airdropping leaflets with the faces, names and security numbers of Palestinians, including children, claiming they have been exposed as collaborators with Israel and listing a number to call to ‘save yourself’, in a naked attempt to sow suspicion and division among the Palestinians of Gaza, who refuse to allow their spirits to be broken by Israel’s genocide and endless war crimes. At least one child pictured is a toddler of two or at most three years old.

The disgusting tactic exposes the desperation of an occupying, apartheid state whose own commentators and media are voicing opinions that Israel has lost the so-called ‘war on Hamas’ in which Israel has murdered as many as 100,000 innocent Palestinians and wounded around twice as many.

Leaflets showing adults have also been dropped:

United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese, who has announced her finding that Israel is indeed committing genocide, confirmed the foul tactic in a post outlining the way in which Palestinian children are threatened and blackmailed by Israeli forces, a practice dating to long before 7 October, a phenomenon she dubbed ‘unchilding’:

Albanese also spoke to Watermelon Reports and described how thousands of children are kidnapped by Israel and held, sometimes for years, without limit:

More than two thirds of those murdered by Israel since 7 October last year have been women and children, with many tens of thousands more maimed or orphaned in targeted attacks on family homes, including the families of medics, journalists and UN workers. The apartheid, racist state has nothing but contempt for the lives of Palestinian innocents, even the youngest and most vulnerable.

Jewish-American Biden appointee resigns over US support for Israel’s genocide

Biden ‘has blood on his hands’ and is making Jews less safe by enabling Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians, says Lily Greenberg Call as she quits the Department of Interior

Lily Greenberg Call

Jewish-American political appointee Lily Greenberg Call – previously a proponent of pro-Israel propaganda now clearly horrified by the reality of the settler-colonial project – has resigned from her position in government over the United States’ collusion in Israel’s genocide in Gaza, telling US president Joe Biden that he has blood on his hands and is endangering Jewish people by helping Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians.

In a withering resignation letter to her boss Deb Haaland, she describes Israel’s mass murder of Palestinians as genocide and accuses the US government of furthering the subjugation of the Palestinian people for the sake of the apartheid occupation:

May 15. 2024
Secretary Deb Haaland
United States Department of the Interior
1849 C St NW
Washington, DC 20240

Dear Secretary Haaland,

I joined the Biden Administration because I believe in fighting for a better America, for a future where Americans can thrive: one with economic prosperity, a healthy planet, and equal rights for all people. I have dedicated my career to candidates who I believed would further this vision. I worked for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign in 2019, and then moved to Arizona to work for President Biden’s campaign in 2020. I was thrilled to join the Department of Interior because I was inspired by your principled track record of championing progressive causes, in addition to your role as an Indigenous woman leading a Department that historically harmed Indigenous communities, and the potential that it has for reparations, reconciliation, and healing.

However, I can no longer in good conscience continue to represent this administration amidst President Biden’s disastrous, continued support for lsrael’s genocide in Gaza.

I am an American Jew. My family escaped antisemitic persecution in Europe and found refuge in America. They changed their names at Ellis Island and worked as farmers, peddlers. and salespeople. My grandparents could not go to college. Two generations later, I have the honor of working as an appointee for the President of the United States. The weight of this position is not lost on me. This is the story of many people in my community: a story of survival, upward
mobility and fulfillment of the American Dream. And yet I have asked myself many times over the last eight months: what is the point of having power if you will not use it to stop crimes against humanity?

My whole life has been spent in Jewish community in the US and Israel. I have spent time in Israel/Palestine, and I learned Hebrew and Arabic both formally in school and through connection in community. I have family and friends who are Israeli, Palestinian – and have loved ones who have served in the IDF. People in my community lost loved ones during Hamas’s attack on October 7th; beloveds killed, displaced, and taken as hostages. I am terrified by rising antisemitism around the world. And yet I am certain that the answer to this is not to collectively punish millions of innocent Palestinians through displacement, famine and ethnic cleansing.

Israel’s ongoing offensive against Palestinians does not keep Jewish people safe – in Israel nor in the United States. What I have learned from my Jewish tradition is that every life is precious. That we are obligated to stand up for those facing violence and oppression, and to question authority in the face of injustice.

As of writing this. Israel has killed 35,000 people in Gaza, including 15,000 children. The Israeli military has bombed medical infrastructure, besieged a hospital, left mass graves behind, destroyed every university in Gaza, targeted journalists and aid workers and committed many, many inexcusable atrocities. These are all violations of international law, none of which would be possible without American weapons, and none of which have been condemned by President Biden.

The President has the power to call for a lasting ceasefire, to stop sending weapons to Israel, and to condition aid. The United States has used nearly no leverage throughout the last eight months to hold Israel accountable; quite the opposite. we have enabled and legitimized Israel’s actions with vetoes of UN resolutions designed to hold Israel accountable. President Biden has the blood of innocent people on his hands.

The United States has long enabled Israeli war crimes and the status quo of apartheid and occupation. That status quo does not keep Israelis safe, nor Jews around the world. It certainly does not protect Palestinians. who have the right to freedom, safety, self-determination, and dignity, just as much as Jewish people do, and every person does. Any system that requires the subjugation of one group over another is not only unjust. but unsafe. Jewish safety cannot – and
will not – come at the expense of Palestinian freedom. Making Jews the face of the American war machine makes us less safe. What seems like a lack of awareness in the Administration leadership of how critical this issue is to the American public is devastating to both communities and politically disastrous.

Today, May I5th, is Nakba Day, which recognizes the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948 and the displacement of the majority of the Palestinian people for the formation of today’s modern Israel. Nakba and Shoah, the Hebrew word for Holocaust, mean the same thing: catastrophe. I reject the premise that one people’s salvation must come at another’s destruction. I am committed to creating a world where this does not happen – and this cannot be done from within the Biden Administration.

My choice to leave is not a reflection of this office or the Department. I have felt supported by many individuals here, but I do not feel supported by the policies and actions of this Administration. I have the utmost respect for my colleagues at the Department who have given so much of themselves to doing the good work of preserving our public lands and strengthening Indian Country, and the many public servants across the federal government. I urge you all to take a stand for Palestinian lives. All our futures depend on this.

Respectfully,

Lily Greenberg Call

Ms Greenberg Call’s principled action and courageous, honest words will surely make her a target for the Israel lobby’s smear machine, just as it has targeted the many Jewish students standing up for humanity on university campuses. Her account was already briefly suspended by Twitter, presumably as a result of concerted action by pro-Israel groups:

Video: Israel-funded US senator calls for Gaza to be treated like Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Published by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 13/05/2024 - 8:49am in

Friend of genocide Lindsey Graham demands US keep sending Israel bombs to ‘finish the job’

US senator Lindsey Graham has demanded that the US keep sending Israel bombs to use on Palestinian civilians in Gaza – and has justified his demand by comparing Gaza to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese cities on which the US dropped atomic bombs to end Japan’s resistance in World War II.G

Graham has received over a million dollars from pro-Israel lobby groups:

Video from HiddenPalestine

Graham and his murderous ilk, like the Israeli far-right government, are outraged that Biden – in a move most think is a cynical attempt to rescue his re-election chances – has paused delivery of the largest bombs to Israel while it is invading Rafah, where more than a million starving Palestinians were corralled by Israeli forces. The friends of genocide are truly ready to annihilate everyone – men, women and children – to preserve the apartheid state. Their place is in The Hague.

UN rejects amendment to limit technology transfer to “voluntary and mutually agreed terms” in resolution on global health

Revised May 6, 2024

Against the backdrop of the tortuous negotiations among WHO Member States on technology transfer and know-how at the last mile of the pandemic agreement talks, on Wednesday, 1 May 2024, Switzerland offered a surprise amendment in a different forum, thousands of miles away, at the UN General Assembly in New York.

The New York votes concerned certain paragraphs within draft resolution A/78/L.62, entitled, “Global health and foreign policy: addressing global health challenges in the foreign policy space” that had been originally tabled on April 19, 2024, by Brazil, France, Indonesia, Norway, Senegal, South Africa, and Thailand.

Switzerland offered an amendment that would insert “on voluntary and mutually agreed terms” after “transfer of technology and know-how” in the twenty-ninth preambular paragraph.

Swiss-Amendment.n2412117-1May2024

The proposed amendment to paragraph 29 reads as follows:

PP29: Noting the discussions on innovative options to enhance the global effort towards the production and equitable distribution of medicines and other health technologies through local and regional production, welcoming the establishment of technology transfer hubs for mRNA vaccines to develop and strengthen local and regional production chains in developing countries, and emphasizing the need to enhance the manufacturing and research capacity of countries through innovation and transfer of technology and know-how [add: on voluntary and mutually agreed terms] with the support of developed countries and advance industries;

Member States then voted, and the amendment was rejected, with 103 UN members voting against the amendment, 49 voting in favor, and three abstentions (India, Mauritius, and Togo).

On 2 May, 2024, the United States called for a recorded vote on preambular paragraph 29, the same paragraph that had previously been voted on in relation to the Swiss amendment. The result of this vote reflected the diverging stances of member states, with 103 voting in favor, 48 voting against, and one abstention (India), nearly the mirror opposite of the vote on the Swiss amendment.

Vote.03L.62as.amended.PP29-2May2024

KEI compiled the voting records of countries on preambular paragraph 29 along with each country’s population and income, which is accessible here.

Member States with higher incomes tended to oppose preambular paragraph 29, with a few exceptions such as Norway, Singapore, and several Middle Eastern oil-rich states, who voted in favor of the paragraph.

Conversely, Member States with some of the lowest reported per-capita-incomes were more inclined to vote in favor of preambular paragraph 29. Among the 96 countries voting with the lowest per-capita incomes, only eight voted against the preambular paragraph. Notably, most of the lower-income Member States that opposed the preambular paragraph were either European candidate countries or countries aspiring to join the EU. The sole exception to this trend was Mozambique, which also voted against the preambular paragraph.

Overall, the voting patterns on preambular paragraph 29 closely aligned with the economic status of the countries, with those having higher incomes generally opposing the preambular paragraph, while lower-income countries were more likely to support it. According to our calculation, when using 2021 per-capita incomes, the countries who voted in favor of the preambular paragraph had a per-capita income of $6,763, whereas the countries who voted against had a per-capita income of $46,938.

The designation “neither yes nor no” (see table below) encompasses countries that either abstained from voting or did not cast a vote, including India’s abstention.

India’s population is enormous, 17.8 percent of the global population in 2021, and in the same year, the per capita income was $2,145. The remaining countries not voting had a population of 488,426,847 in 2021, and a per-capita income of $13,233.

US refuses to say it won’t kill Assange

Wikileaks journalist remains imprisoned as US continues to pursue discredited extradition case – and refusal to give binding guarantee would result in his immediate release if UK justice system was fit for purpose

The US has refused to give a specific, binding guarantee to a UK court that it will not execute journalist and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Assange has been held for years in solitary confinement in Belmarsh prison while he fights the US government’s attempt to extradite him so it can imprison him for years beyond his lifespan, after Assange exposed war crimes in Iraq by the US military.

The case should have been laughed out of court three years ago, when the main US witness admitted he had been lying all along in his claim that Assange induced him to hack US systems. Instead, Assange has been submitted to what former UN Special Rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer described as sustained psychological torture – and still faces the likelihood of imprisonment for more than a century.

His recent appeal was adjourned to give the US time to affirm properly that it would not kill him if he was extradited, a sick joke when there has been longstanding evidence of US plans to murder him outside the US.

The judges even refused to admit fresh evidence of the US’s plans to assassinate Assange, instead offering the US another opportunity to have him in their hands if they would promise not to put him to death. The US.

But Assange’s wife Stella has revealed that the US has refused to say that it will not kill him and has offered only a boilerplate statement about the death penalty, while denying Assange the free speech protections it would offer to any US citizen:

The United States has issued a non-assurance in relation to the First Amendment, and a standard assurance in relation to the death penalty.

It makes no undertaking to withdraw the prosecution’s previous assertion that Julian has no First Amendment rights because he is not a U.S citizen. Instead, the US has limited itself to blatant weasel words claiming that Julian can “seek to raise” the First Amendment if extradited.

The diplomatic note does nothing to relieve our family’s extreme distress about his future – his grim expectation of spending the rest of his life in isolation in US prison for publishing award-winning journalism.

The Biden Administration must drop this dangerous prosecution before it is too late.

The US statement says the death penalty will be ‘neither sought nor imposed’, but this is non-binding and meaningless given its previous attempts to kill him. The refusal to guarantee there will be no death penalty in Assange’s specific case should mean under UK and European human rights laws that the extradition is immediately refused by the UK court and Assange should already be free. Even if the assurances had been given, the likelihood that the US’s treatment of Assange would lead to his death should be enough to quash the bid.

The fact that he is not yet free of the threat of extradition, let alone walking around in the freedom he should have, is a damning indictment of the state of UK justice and democracy.

The US Doesn’t Support A Two-State Solution, It Just Supports Saying It Does

Notes From The Edge Of The Narrative Matrix

Listen to a reading of this article (reading by Tim Foley):

https://medium.com/media/ada69c6dd6a99762dda3e374c9c1bf5f/href

The US doesn’t support a two-state solution, the US only supports saying the US supports a two-state solution. We know this because the US just vetoed Palestine’s bid to become a full UN member state, after lobbying other countries to vote against the resolution — despite continually saying it supports the foundation of a Palestinian state. Washington’s words say one thing, but its actions say the opposite.

This is because if the US admitted its actual position, it would greatly damage its reputation on the world stage. What the US actually wants is the same thing the Israelis want: for the Palestinians to go away, or lie down and submit completely, or otherwise stop being an inconvenience until they’re a forgotten footnote in the dustbin of history. But the US can’t come right out and say this, so it pretends to support a two-state solution that Israel has spent years doing everything it can to ensure never happens. It’s a completely fictional resolution to a very real problem, but the alternative to supporting it is to admit you support continued apartheid, oppression, ethnic cleansing and genocide.

So the US maintains this ridiculous charade where it keeps pretending to support this fake non-solution, even while taking concrete actions which make it clear that it does not. Immediately after vetoing the Palestinian bid for UN membership, Deputy US Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood declared, “The United States continues to strongly support a two-state solution. This vote does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood,” saying the emergence of a Palestinian state can only come about through direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. We can see right now how things are going on that front.

U.S. at the UN: what we just voted no on is something that we strongly support pic.twitter.com/9psBUIzcP7

As always, the only way to understand the US-centralized global power structure is to ignore what its officials say and watch what they actually do instead. This is good advice for understanding geopolitics and government dynamics in general, and it’s good advice for sorting out fact from fiction when dealing with any manipulator in your personal life. Ignore their words, and watch their actions.

The Washington Post put out a good investigative report on the IDF’s murder of six year-old Hind Rajab along with her family in Gaza earlier this year, showing that evidence points to Israeli forces being behind the attack. Washington Post editors immediately shitcoated this report by giving it the obnoxious headline “Palestinian paramedics said Israel gave them safe passage to save a 6-year-old girl in Gaza. They were all killed.”

This headline is carefully crafted to suggest that Israel kindly granted safe passage to Palestinian healthcare workers, who were then killed by some unknown assailant. Imagine going through all the work of putting out a hard investigative report, and then having your editor slap this shit on it. Disgusting.

A senior US Air Force leader and whistleblower has informed Congress that the US is refusing to pull its military forces from Niger despite being told to do so by the new Nigerien government, and that refusing to withdraw troops from a nation where they aren’t wanted is putting them at risk. Which means we’ve got yet another illegal US military occupation on our hands.

https://medium.com/media/f438fa834e604b78304966d69bbd0689/href

It’s so stupid how everyone’s felt the need to keep pretending to believe the Gaza death toll has legitimately hovered around thirty thousand for months now just because Israel supporters have even been calling the official death count a Hamas-driven exaggeration.

We all know the Gaza health ministry hasn’t had the infrastructure or ability to count all the dead throughout the Gaza Strip for months and that the official number doesn’t include people killed by starvation and disease due to the Israeli blockade, but because Israel supporters (including the US president) threw shade on the health ministry’s numbers from the beginning they succeeded in dragging the Overton window all the way down to this ridiculously conservative estimate just through sheer vitriol and denialism — even though we know the killing never stopped.

Ralph Nader wrote in early March that the real number is probably more like 200,000. There’s no good reason to discount this. It’s certainly more likely than the number just continuing to sit around thirty thousand for no reason.

Israeli media: Israel ‘totally defeated’ – and terrified of Iran

Source close to discussions about Iran says millions would be fleeing Israel if they knew what was being said

Israeli media are often far more honest about what their country is doing – and what is going on in it – than western ‘mainstream’ media are about the same issues. While UK ‘msm’ still maintain the lie that Hamas ‘beheaded babies’ and raped women on 7 October, Israeli media sometimes freely discuss the truth – and frequently and openly write about the ‘immense’ numbers of Israelis killed that day by the Israeli military.

And now, Israeli media are discussing two further truths that will not be aired by UK broadcasters or printed by UK papers.

First, Haaretz – one of Israel’s major dailies – has splashed a headline concluding that Israel has lost – totally lost – the ‘war’, the genocide, it has been raining down on the innocent civilians of Gaza. Lost so badly that Israel cannot be secure – and will not either regain by force the captives taken by Hamas, or end its pariah status:

And second, journalists with sources close to the Israeli regime’s discussions about Iran – which yesterday achieved a measured but compelling attack on Israel in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of Iran’s consulate in Damascus – are saying openly that those discussions are so terrifying that if the Israeli populace knew what was being said, millions of them would be flooding Israel’s main international airport to try to get out of the country:

The UK government, opposition and media are incorrigibly dishonest about Israel’s genocide and its terrible consequences for the millions of innocents in Gaza and the West Bank – and the ruination of both Israel’s and the West’s always-thin pretence as democratic, humane and law-abiding. But the truth is out there – and will percolate through.
