I can't think of any other city in the country with the distinctive aesthetic sensibility necessary to make car parks the overwhelmingly dominant feature of their town planning. I don't think this is emphasised enough in our promotional literature. Just as Adelaide is the "city of churches", Coffs Harbour could be known as the "city of car parks", attracting car park connoisseurs from around the world to appreciate the unique terroir of our ashphalt and white lines, the bold contrast between the sun-scorched and the damp and gloomy parking spots, the colourful profusion of discarded junk food packaging, and the bracing, ethanol-laced aroma of our down-and-outs.
