The idea that we should yearn for Blairite/Clintonite "moderates" is absurd, given that the alleged left-wing extremists are themselves so neoliberal. #Bernie is an avowed fiscal hawk, #Corbyn and McDonnell long ago committed themselves, in the event of #Brexit, to effectively pretend that they are still bound by the austerity shackles of Maastricht and the Stability and Growth Pact, and #AOC is currently championing that most neoliberal of dehumanising abstractions, "human capital". The new school is still too old school for the problems we face.
