After about a year of being the geek in the formal Intranet project and realising I was mainly charged with delivering information to management that they were already getting perfectly efficiently, rather than making peoples' jobs easier, as I'd intended, I quit. By then, I'd picked up enough #JavaScript to be dangerous, and became an #ObjectOriented convert, with a fresh zealot's buttressing of a little knowledge with a lot of enthusiasm. _All_ my code went object oriented. _Everything_, down to comments, was an object. #Perl at the best of times is, as they say, a write-only language. Throw in a hefty dose of totally unnecessary abstraction and… Oh, the poor fellow who had to take over after me!
