There's nothing so poisonous as the genius myth. How did Shane MacGowan write alone as many beautiful songs as Lennon and McCartney wrote together? He worked really, really fucking hard. It's as simple as that. It's demeaning to say to somebody "Oh, it's easy for you because you're gifted."
