#DrWho 2018 ep. 2 was a bit meh. Never doubted Whittaker's ability to fit the part perfectly, but the story was decidedly lightweight, and carried all the hallmarks of being filler in yet another series-long story arc. These didn't work on the couple of occasions they were attempted in classic Who and are a tiresome trope in new Who. Chibnall, who as a fan suffered through the trial of series 23 on initial broadcast, should know better. In the 45+ minute format, two-parters are with rare exception the minimum required to support a rewarding plot, and it's far more reasonable to expect a casual audience to watch two consecutive episodes than twelve.
