Dear sub-editor, I read the headline "John Lewis Christmas advert: Elton John reportedly paid £5m to star in 2018 edition" to mean "_has_ reportedly paid" rather than "_was_ reportedly paid". The omission of three letters made the article seem much more scandalous than it turned out to be, and leaves you open to accusations of clickbaiting. I for one was certainly disappointed.
